Pop art has often been labelled as artistic, with its eye catching bold, bright and colourful images. Made famous in the mid 1950's when it emerged on the UK art scene with its distinguish style.
It was Lawrence Alloway a famous art critic and curator who first coined the term "Pop art" following its emergence in 1954, which ultimately flourished in the 1960's in both the UK and US.
When we look back on the history of Pop art, several key artists standout. With Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, James Rosenquist and Claes Oldenburg being at the forefront, with their timeless classics still highly regarded around the world today.
